It contains what I feel is my general philosophy on how to conduct oneself in the online world. There are 100 total and they will be distributed throughout the United States.

Participant Eleven // Final Survey
1. Why do you want what you...

Participant Eleven // Final Survey

1. Why do you want what you want?
What do I want?

2. How are the things around you relating to one another?
Everything is part of everything. I think.

3. The water or the earth?
Part of everything.

4. Do you have any medical conditions?
I will if I don’t get some sleep! Wait is worrying a medical condition?

5. Have you ever had a near death experience?
Not near enough.

6. When will you leave for where you are going? Will you come back?
I already did. But I’ve kind of lost track of where “back” is exactly.

7. How many life goals have you had?
Too many. And by that I mean none.

8. Describe your last conversation?
In a word, disheartening.

9. What is the next step?
Reparations.

10. Are these surveys?
Kinda.

Participant Ten // Final Survey
1. Why do you want what you...

Participant Ten // Final Survey

1. Why do you want what you want?

Woody Allen said, “The heart wants what it wants,” I’ll justify anything with that.

2. How are the things around you relating to one another?

That’s what I am trying to figure out, I think objects and people and situations are so

strange right now. Sometimes I even look at my dog and think “how weird is it that I have this tiny

animal who is dependent on me to feed and give her love, and she doesn’t even need anyone of

her species to feel good?” It’s kind of like when you write something on paper and you know it’s

spelled right but, for some reason, it looks weird and you have to show it to someone and say, “Is

this spelled right? It looks weird.” That’s how everything feels to me right now, maybe always.

3. The water or the earth?

Being in the ocean scares me; I went snorkeling at night once and was scared and

another time I almost got pulled away from the shore by the waves, those were both traumatizing.

But I’m really into looking up weird sea creatures, and I love watching Blue Planet. I guess I’ll say

water, especially since my sign is the crab.

4. Do you have any medical conditions?

I get patellar subluxations, which means my kneecap pops out, then back in. When I was

in elementary school, the P.E. teacher had us do shuttle runs, and my knee popped out and

made me fall to the concrete. I complained that it hurt and I couldn’t walk on it, since she couldn’t

see physical evidence of what happened she accused me of faking it. When I was 22 I went and

had X-rays done to see what was up, my doctor looked like Adam Savage and he told me I have

shallow trochlear grooves and that’s what was causing my knees to pop. I felt vindicated, and

satisfied that my P.E. teacher was a jerk. The last time it popped was in December, I didn’t walk

well for at least 2-3 months and I sometimes had to use a leopard-print cane, and only since

August does it feel normal again.

5. Have you ever had a near death experience?

When I was younger my stepdad brought home a heavy industrial-vinyl inflatable alligator

home for my sister and I to swim on in the pool. My sister liked to do this thing where we sat on it

sideways and she would flip us backwards into the water; she did it and I got trapped underneath

this heavy vinyl alligator and couldn’t get it off, I completely ran out of air and panicked, but

somehow I fought my way to the top. I think I yelled at her and cried and got out of the pool after

that.

6. When will you leave for where you are going? Will you come back?

I will leave for where I am going hopefully once I have amassed enough to live on. I will

probably spend a good deal of time there but eventually come back once I have got it out of my

system.

7. How many life goals have you had?

Few major ones, mostly I have smaller goals. I used to be way ambitious until I found out

that achieving most of them would cost a lot. I’ve been in college for too many years now, but I

always think of Confucius’ “It does not matter how slowly you go, as long as you do not stop.” I

am close to finishing college and I will be the first in my immediate family to do so. I have met a

lot of traveling goals though, when I was 16 I made a list of all the big cities/countries I wanted to

visit, and so far I have accomplished going to Spain, Morocco, Paris, and Tokyo, as well as more

accessible cities like LA and San Francisco. I’m really proud of meeting those goals, at least.

8. Describe your last conversation?

Last night I discussed with someone how I don’t get why people are so self-deprecating.

I guess I was raised with oodles of confidence, because I don’t get why people are so hard on

themselves or call themselves insulting things. I can admit my faults, but I’ll never bash myself for

them.

9. What is the next step?

This is short term, but once I have time I want to wash all my laundry, give away some of

my excess things, and read my giant pile of books. I think I’ll have time in exactly one month.

10. Are these surveys?

They are surveillance, you are a voyeur. Or maybe you are like Freud? I think it’s great to

reach into someone’s brain and poke around where most people don’t, I love psychoanalysis.

Most people don’t ask enough about what people think.

Participant Eight // Final Survey

1. Why do you want what you want?

A long series of stimuli and reactions.

2. How are the things around you relating to one another?

Spacial and conceptual relations.

3. The water or the earth?

The Earth, but the water is nice to visit.

4. Do you have any medical conditions?

No. Well, mild asthma.

5. Have you ever had a near death experience?

Probably the closest i’ve come has been on my bike.

6. When will you leave for where you are going? Will you come back?

Soon i hope, we’ll see if I come back.

7. How many life goals have you had?

Lots of little ones, and a few big ones.

8. Describe your last conversation?

A quick chat with an old and very dear friend. The worth of the conversation far outweighed the length.

9. What is the next step?

moving forward

10. Are these surveys?

yes

Participant Seven // Final SurveyWhy do you want what you want?
...

Participant Seven // Final SurveyWhy do you want what you want?

I feel like I need it. And it’s good.

How are the things around you relating to one another?

Quite well. I am in my friend Alan’s room as he plays with a pair of Chinese stress bells that I won at a Gameworks when I was in middle school.. My other roommate is cackling from the other room, beckoning Alan (and the bells) into the joke’s vicinity. It’s good. On a larger scale, I have no idea what the fuck is going on, barely feel the forces that create the landscape, and so on.

The water or the earth?

I want it all.

Do you have any medical conditions?

No.

Have you ever had a near death experience?

Or so i thought.

When will you leave for where you are going? Will you come back?

“I’m leaving forever and I’m never coming back” -Me, yesterday

How many life goals have you had?

7267.

Describe your last conversation?

While listening to some funk with previously mentioned friend Alan, we remembered that we really loved this band that we saw the other day called Soropolous Rex. We’re (scheming to/)going to have a party at our house with them and some other classy dudes and have a 1950’s party. Maybe it will be referred to as a Mad Men party, per the request of some of the more avid TV-watchers in the house.

What is the next step?

Putting the ideas into a communicable medium.

Are these surveys?

I certainly thought so, but this question is beginning to make me skeptical.

Participant Six // Final Survey
Why do you want what you want?
...

Participant Six // Final Survey

Why do you want what you want?

On the most basic level what I want (or at least what I’m starting realize what I need is) perpetual motion/change and at the same time I’m craving stability. I suppose I want that because I find I’m happy as long as I’m in motion on a creative level and I love the stability of familiar feeling all at the same time. Maybe I already have what I want?

How are the things around you relating to one another?

This is a weird question because I’m really not sure what ‘things’ refers to. I’ve got a dog and a cat and they get along and sometimes for only brief moments they get into an actual scuffle but they definitely know better than to fight and stop right away and sometimes they engage in this funny play wrestle thing,

The water or the earth?

Water mostly but part of me wants the Earth. I feel like they both symbolize two different people.

Do you have any medical conditions?

I feel like I have two very different people inside me sometimes but not in a weird way.

Have you ever had a near death experience?

Possibly, the first was on a motorbike. I was riding with my dad and brother for maybe the 2nd or 3rd time and I had fallen behind them because I really wasn’t all that great at riding my bike yet. Anyways they had stopped and started talking about which part of the desert we would head out to, since they had both been out riding together pretty frequently. I finally caught up and stopped as they had both started their bikes again and taken off. So I tried starting my bike up, this was something I was not comfortable with yet ha, I accidentally started the bike up in second gear. I was facing a wired fence and my bike was thrown into the wires at the top speed of 2nd gear only after I had been riding along the fence long enough to hit one of the poles. I smashed my face into it and was left on the ground with my bike just totally out of comission. Thank god I was wearing a helmet.

When will you leave for where you are going? Will you come back?

I plan on leaving to Los Angeles to kind of experience a real city in January. I don’t plan on coming back anytime soon but I already feel like no where else will feel like home.

How many life goals have you had?

Dozens? Hundreds? ha, I feel like my life goals are always expand. I pretty much look at every goal as a life goal though.

Describe your last conversation?

My last conversation was with a friend. He asked me if I wanted to go over to his girlfriends house and try and come up with something to do but I declined because I knew I would just go over there and it would be about as entertaining as being here. Plus I guess there are better things that I should be doing besides hanging out all day (i.e. this survey)

What is the next step?

To practice enough different things to really find out what I do best and then do that the best I can.

Are these surveys?

No, they’re questionnaires. I feel like most surveys I’ve ever filled out have been simple answers. Maybe these are even the loosest version of essay questions. No matter what they are I feel like I’ve really grown from doing this and I always look forward to getting them as well as seeing what you make at the end of the week. I hope you do more projects like this in the future.

Participant Five // Final Survey
1. Why do you want what you...

Participant Five // Final Survey

1. Why do you want what you want? Because it wonderful and much

overdue.

2. How are the things around you relating to one another? Chaotic and non-

linear.

3. The water or the earth? Earth

4. Do you have any medical conditions? Depression.

5. Have you ever had a near death experience? Yes, in an ER. I was myself in

the future standing in NYC Chinatown at night and very confused.

6. When will you leave for where you are going? Will you come back? As

soon as it is appropriate. Symbolically, no.

7. How many life goals have you had? So, many! They may be related yet

evolve and change over time.

8. Describe your last conversation? Working out the logistics to become a

social worker by profession versus only practicing it as habit.

9. What is the next step? Possibly going back to school.

10. Are these surveys? They are more like interviews.

Participant Four // Final Survey

1. Why do you want what you want? it is the next step in my progression towards enlightenment, it is what i am called to do

2. How are the things around you relating to one another? inextricably bound, there is no divide

3. The water or the earth?air

4. Do you have any medical conditions? i am legally blind

5. Have you ever had a near death experience? every day.

6. When will you leave for where you are going? in five minutes

Will you come back? before 2

7. How many life goals have you had? endless amount

8. Describe your last conversation? lucas asked me where the subconscious lighter came from, and i told him it came from the couch.

9. What is the next step? go to walmart.

10. Are these surveys? no…?

Participant Three // Final Survey
1. Why do you want what you...

Participant Three // Final Survey

1. Why do you want what you want? I want to be able to graduate college

most of all currently. I really would like to be able to do what I love while

sustaining a certain level of income. I don’t want to be a famous producer

or musician. Fame would not agree with me; I have enough social anxiety

as it is. I guess I want my basic human needs to be fulfilled while still

being “ahead of the curve” as far as finances are concerned.

2. How are the things around you relating to one another? My room is a

complete mess. I don’t have as much room as I’d like, but it works. The

posters on my walls are completely unrelated to one another. I have a

shower curtain with dolphins on it that serves as a door to my “closet.”

Basically, my room is a converted attic space, so there’s a very strange

way every angle of the walls comes together.

3. The water or the earth? Definitely the Earth. I don’t like the ocean; it is

very intimidating.

4. Do you have any medical conditions? When I was 17 I passed a kidney

stone. It was the most awful experience of my life; painful, scary. The

doctors didn’t find any traces of calcium in my bladder, so they assumed

it was just a urinary tract infection, and prescribed me drugs accordingly.

I went to my family doctor for a follow-up, and he determined that the

doctors had prescribed the wrong medicine completely, as I will still

having pains. I went back to the hospital for a contrast MRI, and they

asked me if I had donated a kidney. I told them I hadn’t, and they said

that the tubes to my kidneys on the left were probably blocked somehow

because it wasn’t showing up on their scan. I went to an urologist to

have a “scope” procedure, where they put a camera up your urethra. He

determined that what I had passed was actually a bladder stone, rare in

humans. He said that this was a sign of kidney malfunction… Well, I went

in to another MRI and they still couldn’t show my left kidney. By this

point, I was very worried. Well, another X-Ray showed that I didn’t have a

left kidney at all. There just wasn’t one… I was born with only one kidney.

This apparently occurs in 1 out of 700 people, so it’s not very rare at all,

surprisingly. Most people don’t find out that they only have one kidney

because they never have an incident like I had. I have to make sure I drink

plenty of fluids and keep my system clean now. Cranberry juice is my

friend!!!

5. Have you ever had a near death experience? No, thankfully!

6. When will you leave for where you are going? I have a studio session at 8

to work on a group assignment, I guess I’ll leave at 7:30 or so…

7. Will you come back? Yeah, probably really late at night, though

8. How many life goals have you had? Well, in junior high and high school

that was finding a boyfriend and maybe settling down, which is difficult

where I come from. I have since realized that that goal will just come with

time. I don’t try to work hard on that one… Currently, I’m just trying to

stay afloat and finish school.

9. Describe your last conversation? I told my roommate about my studio

proficiency exams, and asked him what he’s doing for Thanksgiving this

year. My dad is coming here to visit, and I need to know details about

people’s plans. He might stay in my other roommate’s room if he can’t get

a hotel. Plus, my brother might be coming, but he hasn’t gotten his work

schedule yet.

10. What is the next step? The sandwich I just ate wasn’t very satisfying… I’m

going to make some mac and cheese!

11. Are these surveys? Not in a very traditional sense, they aren’t. Most

surveys I see are very specific, and usually consist of yes/no questions.

However, I think that the results that you have gotten are more specific

than anything a tradition survey can determine.

Participant Two // Final Survey

1. Why do you want what you...

Participant Two // Final Survey

1. Why do you want what you want?

Because I need it.

2. How are the things around you relating to one another?

Right now, the 24 things that are happening around me don’t seem to be related at all, but that’s only because for the past three days I’ve had an extremely pessimistic outlook on life.

3. The water or the earth?

Earth.

4. Do you have any medical conditions?

haha. Yes. At the moment I have a ganglion cyst in my right hand. It’s been neuropathic for the past three days. I also have a chronic arthritis called ankylosing spondylitis and joint hyper-mobility syndrome. I also am 20% deaf and still have tubes in my ears to help with pressure control.

5. Have you ever had a near death experience?

I don’t think so.. My sister fell off a 2 story inflatable side once though!

6. When will you leave for where you are going? Will you come back?

Yes. I always come back. My ties to whatever community I’ve ever been a part of has always been too strong.

7. How many life goals have you had?

I make short term goals. But I think I’ve had 3. And haven’t meant any of them…yet.

8. Describe your last conversation?

Zz and I kept talking about what we wanted to do tonight and eventually decided we didn’t want to go out. She decided to go to bed.

9. What is the next step?

Get this cyst out of my hand, finish the semester, get an internship, and kick ass next semester!

10. Are these surveys?

Is this the Matrix?

Participant One // Final Survey
1. Why do you want what you...

Participant One // Final Survey

1. Why do you want what you want?
There are many different reasons. Sometimes selfishness, sometimes
selflessness. Physiological reasons. Psychological reasons. Never
astrological reasons. Me and Curtis ain’t down with that.
2. How are the things around you relating to one another?
Flawlessly.
3. The water or the earth?
Both together.
4. Do you have any medical conditions?
A serious history of concussions. If I have another serious
concussion, my head will crack open like a raw egg and my life will
ooze onto the floor.
5. Have you ever had a near death experience?
I suppose so. Almost been hit by a car on my bike very often. Don’t
know if I would have died, though. Have never had the near death
experiences that are written about. Saw a lecture about it from the
world’s leading researcher once at a church in downtown Chicago.
6. When will you leave for where you are going? Will you come back?
I was going to leave at 10:10 this morning, but class was just
cancelled. I will leave for work at 11:40 this morning and return home
around 9 or 10 at night.
7. How many life goals have you had?
I don’t have goals per se. I have things I know that I am going to do
and I do them. Sounds a little like
8. Describe your last conversation?
Talking to a very old friend about his two-and-a-half-month-long trip
with his friend.
9. What is the next step?
Do what I know I need to do.
10. Are these surveys?
These are ways to get to know someone. You are surveys, because you
are the questions that have been asked to me. Thanks for asking.

Participant Eleven // Survey Four

1. Tell me about the first date you ever went on?
I’m not really sure this has happened.

2. What is the hardest thing you have ever done?
Drive across Texas without stopping or speaking to the passenger.

3. What are your parents’ names?
Kathi and Leo

5. Tell me about your last dream?
I have these dreams that are like movie previews that I’m watching. I never remember the plots.

6. Do you listen to the radio?
Car NPR

7. What is your most embarrassing moment?
Probably the last time I was in some sort of social situation.

8. Do you have a favorite myth?
I relate the most to sisypuhs.

9. What were you scared of as a child?
Clowns and vampires.

10. 1. Tell me about the first date...

Participant Ten // Survey Four

1. Tell me about the first date you ever went on?

It was weird, now that I look back on it. My first date was when I

was 17 and the dude was 24, I met him at the community college

where I took classes on weekends and summers during high school

because he worked at the coffee shop in the student union. He at

first insisted that we hang out in a group setting because of my age,

but when it came time, he picked me up alone. A girl that worked

with him that I was friends with told him, “Make sure she gets home

on time.” We went to December’s First Friday and walked around,

he romantically kissed me in the cold air of the street and in empty,

darkened galleries. After that we went to his place and had a couple

of beers, then he drove me home. It was nice as far as a date goes, but

now that I am 24 I try to picture dating a 17 year-old and it creeps me

out so badly. I saw on Facebook recently that people I know from high

school who still attend that community college are friends with him;

I looked at his info and he still works at the same coffee shop and still

hasn’t gotten his degree.

2. What is the hardest thing you have ever done?

I feel like a jerk for being so lucky, but I haven’t really had to do

anything hard in my life. No grand misfortunes ever, knock on wood.

I moved out at 18, live on my own, go to college, have always been

able to pay for my living, mostly. Maybe things will get tough when I

graduate, but I hope not.

3. Is there someone you would like to meet if you could bring anyone back

from the dead?

I guess I would want to meet Kurt Vonnegut, Salvador Dali, and Andy

Warhol – heroes! I love them all for their wit and lifestyles/outlooks,

and Dali especially for his ego and mania. I could have a good time

with any of them.

4. What are your parents’ names?

Ronaldo Paulo and Penelope Anne - Ron and Penny. When my parents

see each other they call each other “Ronny Paul” and “Penny Anne,”

they’re great.

5. Tell me about your last dream?

I will tell you a wild one: I dreamt that my current classmates and I

had a field trip to some weird campus, then to a conservative lady’s

house, she had a bouffant and a wood-paneled house with ugly

curtains. While on the school bus there, I took a shot of orange cough

syrup for my sore throat. While in the lady’s house, my mouth felt

really weird, like I was salivating something the consistency of the

cough syrup. I felt like I had to regurgitate the syrupy substance out,

so I jumped over the half-door that leads to the kitchen where all my

classmates were standing and spat in the sink. At that moment, I woke

up from my dream and realized I had actually spat all over my bed! I

immediately took a picture of it because it’s a weird thing to wake up

to.

6. Do you listen to the radio?

Yes, mainly NPR. My dad instilled that good habit. If I want to listen to

music I’ll try 94.5 or 95.5 for old jams, most other stations bum me out

because they play really aggro stuff.

7. What is your most embarrassing moment?

Probably my 22nd birthday party, I was way drunk because everyone

kept buying me drinks. We went to a friend’s house at 2AM and

drank more, then he stole my favorite lipstick so I wrestled him for

it and then made him wear it. I got really tired because I was still jet-

lagged from coming back from Tokyo, so I tried to excuse myself to go

sleep but my friends were dragging me off to sleep somewhere else

and I threw a fit because I didn’t want to sleep on someone’s floor. I

ran away from everyone at 4am through downtown Phoenix and a

friend had to chase me and corral me back into a car and then home

at 5am. I got too wild, and I was a total mess. Everyone looks back

on this episode pretty fondly though; two years later pictures from

that evening are still being put up and comments made about being

bummed on missing out on the craziness. I still cringe.

8. Do you have a favorite myth?

It’s funny, I was always really into Greek mythology when I was younger, I

had a big book about them, and now I can’t recall most of them. I like the one

about Icarus and his wings, but I guess my favorite would have to be about

Medusa and the Land of the Gorgons. The Perseus/Medusa battle in the

original Clash of the Titans (1981) is so good.

9. What were you scared of as a child?

Roaches? Gunshots? I can’t really remember but I always screamed

when a roach came into the room, and once I remember my mom laid

me down for bed and then I heard gunshots in my neighborhood and I

couldn’t fall asleep. I’m still mega afraid of those two.

10. Do you know your neighbors?

Not anymore. I’ve been living in my current apartment since May 2009.

The first guy we lived next to was named Jim, but we secretly called

him “Jimmy.” We didn’t know him on a personal level but we at least felt he was

a nice guy. He was kind of quiet and reserved, maybe in his late 30s or early 40s,

and he worked for a university, wore a white button down, khakis, and glasses,

and drove a station wagon that had the letters “ZTW” on it that we called

the “Zoomy Turbo Wagon.” The last six months or so before he moved out in

November 2010, he started bringing a boyfriend home, he was tall and brawny

so we referred to him as “Muscleman.” Muscleman brought him out of his shell;

they started zipping around in Muscleman’s convertible, coming home at all

hours of the night, and dressing in tutus, wigs, and all sorts of spandex outfits

together. After Jimmy moved out an 20-something ASU bro moved in with his

mom and dad, we were never really sure if they parents were just visiting or

lived there full-time and we thought it was really weird. Towards the end of

their time there this past summer, I only saw the dad, and he was really nice to

me, we would exchange pleasantries. Now as of August, two 18 year-old bratty

girls live next to me, they’re the kind of people who you can tell have everything

bought for them; one day one of the girl’s dad showed up to give her a brand

new shiny red Beetle. One day I got home at the same time as one of them, so

after I walked up the steps I stopped at my door, turned back, said “hello,” with

intentions of introducing myself, and the girl JUST LOOKED AT ME and kept

ascending the steps without acknowledging me. And they keep parking in our

reserved parking spot; we left a note telling them not to, so now they just have

their guests park there instead. This past weekend I got in my friend’s car (at

night with the headlights on, shining up the steps)and we sat in the car for a

minute to figure out where we were going; the other girl whom I hadn’t

interacted with yet walked up the steps, stopped, turned, and glared into the car

at us for nearly a full minute, possibly as an intimidation tactic! They are jerks; I

wish Jimmy and Muscleman were still next-door, they were both so polite.

Participant Eight // Survey Four
Tell me about the first date...

Participant Eight // Survey Four

Tell me about the first date you ever went on?

Can’t really remember to be honest. It probably involved coffee?

What is the hardest thing you have ever done?

Moved to a foreign country for work. Perhaps not the hardest thing, but its what comes to mind. Suddenly being uprooted from everything I knew was pretty difficult for me. It passed after a couple of months, and I ended up missing it when I came back.

Is there someone you would like to meet if you could bring anyone back from the dead?

I would like to hang out with Ingmar Bergman for a while.

What are your parents’ names?

            Paul and Wendy

Tell me about your last dream?

I rarely remember dreams, but in the past month or so I have been having some pretty bleak ones that have been sticking with me. A few weeks ago, I had one involving the end of the universe, and it was particularly memorable. I remember looking up and being able to see all of the stars, in the middle of the day, as if it were night. “All the stars in the universe just went super nova” I thought.

Do you listen to the radio?

Yes, all day at work., and in the car.

What is your most embarrassing moment?

I went to a sleepover at a friend’s house when I was young, and for reasons that I cannot remember I really didn’t want to leave the room when we went to bed. I ended up peeing myself in my sleep. I was deeply embarrassed, and I don’t think I’ve ever told anyone about this until now. I haven’t thought about this in a long time, and it’s also the only example I can think of at the moment.

Do you have a favorite myth?

Not in particular, but I really like paranormal myths.

What were you scared of as a child?

            Goliath.

Do you know your neighbors?

Not really. I wave at them from time to time, but I have never spoken to them.

Participant Seven // Survey Four
1. Tell me about the first date...

Participant Seven // Survey Four

1. Tell me about the first date you ever went on?

I had a girlfriend my freshman year of high school named Autumn. She was

the first girl that I ever loved/the first real girlfriend I had/the first girl I had

sex with- and on and on and on. I had no Idea how to be in a relationship. I

had no idea of how to dance bizarre mating ritual that we have in America.

I was a pretty shitty dancer, to boot. Apart from the pseudo dates involving

drinking vodka out of water bottles at various local parks across our

hometown, I remember having a real date with her to officially mark that we

had been dating for about a month. Or 3. The details are a bit fuzzy. I think

that her parents put her up to it. Maybe mine should have? My dad is pretty

awkward, too, so maybe I already knew the awkward paces of his dance.

Anyways, I have digressed quite a bit- we ate Italian food at this restaurant

that I can’t remember the name of. I got the linguini and red sauce. I still

feel weird when I’m out to eat sometime. I’d still much rather be eating a

sandwich on a curb or something.

2. What is the hardest thing you have ever done?

Myself vs. apathy towards everything

3. Is there someone you would like to meet if you could bring anyone back from

the dead?

I would love to meet Kurt Vonneget, Does he talk as he writes?

4. What are your parents’ names?

Blaine and Almira

5. Tell me about your last dream?

I was in a high building in Chicago with my ex-girlfriend.

6. Do you listen to the radio?

Yes, but I am not a fan of commercial radio.

7. What is your most embarrassing moment?

Clogging the toilet at my friend Matt’s house. It was my first time meeting his

parents and I had to greet them with a “Sorry but your toilet is completely

sealed with shit”. It was like a trout or something.

8. Do you have a favorite myth?

Freemasonry

9. What were you scared of as a child?

Heights, I almost

10. Do you know your neighbors?

Some of them. I live on a block predominantly made up of houses full of

college students. It’s hard to meet people when you’re already living with 10

others. In group/out group.

Participant Six // Survey Four
Tell me about the first date you...

Participant Six // Survey Four

Tell me about the first date you ever went on?

My very first date was in High School, freshman year at a football game. My best friend and I had taken an interest in the same girl (classic) and I knowingly went on a date with her. Now, I have no interest in high school or foot ball games and especially not high school football games but the girl I was interested in at the time had a brother on the team. It was a totally nerve racking experience, I took the bus alone to the school and met her there. We sat down and just talked all night, didn’t watch the game. I came home that night to a million IM’s from my friend. For a while I looked back on that night feeling bad for betraying my friend but it turns out I’m still with her and him and I are still really great friends. Probably best friends. Everything works out in the end.

What is the hardest thing you have ever done?

Right now, I dropped out of school and moved back in with my mom to save money to move to Silverlake in order to pursue the dream of making a living off of music. The hardest thing about it is wondering whether or not I’ll wish that I had stayed in school, I also haven’t told my family that I dropped out.

Is there someone you would like to meet if you could bring anyone back from the dead?

I would like to have Nietzche and Plato get together and debate the meaning of life while Debussy and Coltrane did live performances.

What are your parents’ names?

Christine Lynn Gladish (maiden name) and William Carlis (still doesn’t own a car) Campbell

Tell me about your last dream?

Kind of a weird one last night actually. I usually don’t remember my dreams but I had a dream last night that I was staying in a house in Flagstaff that was haunted. Like scary haunted, the dream was insane I can’t even describe it. Turns out that my brother was the ghost haunting the house and I wasn’t even aware that he had died. Then the dream trailed off into this massive cry fest about him passing away. I think my subconscious is telling me to spend more time with him because I really don’t see him much.

Do you listen to the radio?

Yeah all the time. KJZZ, get the Led out, All Things Considered, KBAQ, 92.7.

What is your most embarrassing moment?

For first friday someone asked me to play a double set at Conspire and also provide a PA. I was playing a show on the same day up in Flagstaff and I assumed that he meant First Friday in November. He called me in the morning to confirm and I was really busy with packing up to drive up north that I didn’t realize that he was confirming that it was in fact “Today”. He called me again before I played that night and so I called him after the show only to find that I had let him down pretty hard. I’m not sure why it was so embarrassing but I felt like a total idiot.

Do you have a favorite myth?

I can’t think of a single myth which is pretty terrible of me.e

What were you scared of as a child?

My parents told me that if I was bad that they were going to call the people at “Bad Boys Island” to come and pick me up and I literally, to this day, have a crystal clear image of how hellish that place is. I believed in it until I was 6 or 7 years old haha.

Do you know your neighbors?

Not at all only because I’m always moving.

Is there someone you would like to meet if you could bring anyone back from
the dead? yes… elliott smith… i would have liked to have changed his mind about things
4. 1. Tell me about the first date...

Participant Three // Survey Four

1. Tell me about the first date you ever went on? The first date I ever went

on was quit awkward… We had pizza and talked for a while. But that guy

was truly insane and I basically never saw him again after our second time

together. And I mean scary insane.

2. What is the hardest thing you have ever done? I wrote two research papers

for the History of Modern War in film class I took this summer, each one

8 pages long. We weren’t allowed to use the internet in our research, and

our library was severely lacking in information. Not to mention that class

was utter nonsense. We skipped the Vietnam War altogether as if it didn’t

happen, but spent a large portion of the class talking about the Korean War.

The whole thing just felt backwards to me.

3. Is there someone you would like to meet if you could bring anyone back from

the dead? I would love to ask Abraham Lincoln if he was actually gay!

4. What are your parents’ names? Henry III and Janie

5. Tell me about your last dream? Well, the last dream I can actually remember

was about my internet friend Hamish. I’ve never met him in person, but I was

traveling to Scotland in this dream, and caught one of his bands. I walked up

to him after the show and he asked why I was faking a Scottish accent, which

I guess I was. He seemed pretty miffed at it, and I felt really sorry about it

because he’s a very talented guy and I respect him a lot. I didn’t mean to

offend him…

6. Do you listen to the radio? I hardly ever listen to the radio. If I do, it’s NPR or

a podcast (which I consider radio).

7. What is your most embarrassing moment? My brother made fun of my

stretch-marks one day at swim practice in front of everybody. I was so mad

that during the races at the end of practice I was really bent on beating the

girl I was racing. It was the 25 ft. freestyle, which was probably my best

event. Anyways, she ended up beating me, and as soon as I stuck my head

up from the water I yelled, “FUCK YOU!” I was 11 so nobody was too happy

about it.

8. Do you have a favorite myth? Sisyphus (Only because I love Camus!)

9. What were you scared of as a child? I saw the Shining when I was 7, so I was

really scared of insane people or going insane. I guess I’ve graduated from

that, and it’s actually given me some compassion for insane people.

10. Do you know your neighbors? I actually don’t know my current neighbors. I

had always known my neighbors until I moved into the dorms.

1. Tell me about the first...

Participant Two // Survey Four

1. Tell me about the first date you ever went on?

I b I believe the first date I ever went on was with my first boyfriend ever. I was a sophomore in high school and we were both on our highschools’ golf teams. What I remember about it was supplying a coupon for buy one get one. He bought the round and we played. I won. It’s really hard to hold hands and walk with clubs.

2. What is the hardest thing you have ever done?

I think the hardest thing I had to do was receive healing and come to the terms with the molestation I experienced as a child. I was molested from ages 4-10 by two different people. It wasn’t until I was 17 that I began to self-explore, seek healing, and forgive those who wronged me. I’m still not 100% healed and will always be recovering, but I am much better now than I was even a year or two ago.

Is there someone you would like to meet if you could bring anyone back from the dead?

Is it weird for me to say Jesus? Because theoretically, he would have to come back from the dead AGAIN. But hey, if he did it once, he can do it again, right? Regardless, my answer is Jesus.

4. What are your parents’ names?

Timothy Lee Slattery Jr. and Dorothy Winthrop Henry

5. Tell me about your last dream?

I dreamed that I made a fleece blanket with cats on one side and dogs on the other. Then they came to life and started fighting. The dogs won.

6. Do you listen to the radio?

No. I don’t even have any stations preset in my car. Though if I lived in Tucson, I would listen to KXCI.

7. What is your most embarrassing moment?

I know this sounds lame, but I don’t think I have one. I got in a fight with my best friend at a bar once and he left me there by myself. That kind of sucked.

8. Do you have a favorite myth?

Um… I don’t have a favorite myth, but when I was little, my father used to tell us this story about a guy named three-fingered willy who roamed around looking for his missing fingers. It’s not a myth or a legend. I thought it was a widely told story until I shared it with my class and no one had ever heard of it. Turns out my father is just a really good storyteller.

What were you scared of as a child?

      Clowns. hands down.

Do you know your neighbors?
Yeah! My neighbors who live to the right of me hate us. They leave notes on anyone’s car who park too close to their house. (but it’s the street, NOT their house, so they can suck it) Amber and Bri live caddy corner to us and they’re really nice. They had us over for the Fourth of July and we drank Bloody Marys, watched Mars Attacks, and climbed their roof to watch the fireworks at Tempe Town Lake. The neighbors across the street just moved out while the neighbors to the left just moved in. Down the ways a little bit there’s an old couple named Wayne and Irma. They always give us oranges when their trees are ripe and I see them all the time walking in the neighborhood. I know about 100 people who live in my neighborhood though. There’s a really strong sense of community in Maple Ash.
Click the Photo for the mix!
